The Messiah Choral Society of Grand Junction was founded in August of 2004 to present an annual performance of Handel's classic oratorio, Messiah. The concert is offered each Easter Sunday as a musical gift to the Grand Valley community by the members of the Messiah Choral Society and its donors. Admission to the concert is free of charge.

Call for Singers

Sunday, Jan 11, 2015 at 2 - 4 pm
First United Methodist Church
522 White Ave, downtown Grand Junction

This is a call for singers to join our chorus for our next Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015 performance. The chorus is unauditioned. We rehearse each Sunday afternoon 2-4pm beginning Jan 11, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church, 522 White Ave. downtown. The roster of singers will be closed after the 3rd rehearsal so you must attend at least one of the first three rehearsals to be included in the chorus. This is an opportunity to perform this musical masterwork with orchestra and professional soloists. If you have sung Messiah before come experience the thrill again. If you are new to Messiah come give it a try. You won't regret it.

Rehearsals will be under the direction of Artistic Director James Werner. Jim is an accomplished tenor, Director of Music at the First Methodist Church, Artistic Director of the High Desert Opera, and a voice teacher.

If you plan to attend the rehearsal, click on these special instructions. A detailed list of all the rehearsal times is available at Rehearsal Schedule. The Leonard Van Camp Edition of the Messiah vocal score is the preferred score for the Messiah Choral Society. We will have sufficient copies of the score for sale at the first rehearsal. The price is $10.00. If you already have a different score, bring it as differences will be minor. The page layout of the Leonard Van Camp edition is identical to the Shirmer edition so it is easy to "be on the same page" if you decide to use the Shirmer edition.
